Sumuda Technology
In a busy restaurant or hotel, money is lost in small ways: an order that never reached the kitchen, a drink served but not billed, stock that disappears between the store and the bar. Hotel and restaurant management software closes these gaps by following every order from the table to the bill and from the store to the plate.
Orders, kitchen and bar
- Waiters take orders on a tablet or phone at the table
- Each item goes automatically to the right printer or screen (kitchen, bar, coffee)
- Notes such as "no onion" or "fasting" travel with the order
- The bill is built from the order, so nothing served is forgotten
Tables, rooms and bills
- A table plan showing which tables are free, ordered or waiting for the bill
- Split and merged bills
- Room charges: restaurant and bar orders posted to the guest's room
- Front desk: reservations, check-in, check-out and room status
- Housekeeping status updated from a phone
Stock and recipes
- Ingredients linked to each menu item, so stock decreases with every sale
- Store, kitchen and bar stock kept separately, with transfers between them
- Purchases from suppliers and goods received checked against orders
- Daily or weekly stock counts that show the difference with the system
This is where most hotels and restaurants find their biggest savings.
Cashier control and payments
- A login for every waiter and cashier
- Manager approval for voids, discounts and complimentary items
- Shift closing with a cash count and a summary per payment method: cash, card, bank transfer and mobile money such as telebirr
- A record of who changed or cancelled what
VAT receipts
If your business is VAT-registered, Ethiopian rules require a sales register machine from an approved provider and VAT at 15 percent. Ask how the software connects to your sales register machine and how it shows VAT on bills and reports.
Keep working offline
The system should keep taking orders when the internet drops, and sync when it returns. Ask the supplier to show this during the demo.
Reports for the owner and manager
- Sales per day, outlet, waiter and menu item
- Best sellers and items that do not sell
- Food and beverage cost compared with sales
- Room occupancy and revenue for hotels
Questions to ask before you choose
- Can it handle all my outlets (restaurant, bar, coffee, rooms) in one system?
- Does it work offline, and what happens to orders taken offline?
- How are recipes and stock set up, and who helps us do it the first time?
- Who trains the staff, and is support available during evening service?
- What does it cost in the first year and every year after?
